Ohio State Women’s Tennis Drops to Nebraska, 4-3 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team fell to Nebraska, 4-3, Saturday in Lincoln, Neb. Following victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles and starting the match 1-0 for the eighth-consecutive time this season, the Buckeyes lost 4-of-6 singles matches to the Huskers. No. 68 Nebraska advances to 6-3 on the season while No. 36 Ohio State drops to 6-2 on the season (3-0 in the Big Ten).
Ohio State extended its season-long streak of clinching the doubles point to eight. At the No. 1 spot, the Buckeye duo of Sadhaf Pervez (Sr., Warren, N.J.) and Lindsay Williams (Jr., Beverly Hills, Mich.) defeated Jen Baccarani and Leslie Harvey, 8-4. Lindsey Adams (So., Mercer Island, Wash.) and Meaghan Colville (Jr., Toronto, Ontario) topped Stacey Tomkiewicz and Jennifer Cremiex, 8-4. The Ohio State tandem of Erica Fisk (Jr., Indianapolis, Ind.) and Jackie Leskovar (Jr., Cambridge, Ontario) suffered their first loss at the No. 2 position (6-1) as they fell to Huskers Rose Ketmayura/Anna Oehme, 8-2.
With a 1-0 lead Ohio State dropped four of six singles matches, posting victories at the No. 1 and No. 4 positions. No. 38 Pervez posted a straight-set victory over Purcell, 6-3, 6-1, to remain undefeated at No. 1 singles (8-0). At the No. 4 sport, Williams battled back from a 1-6 start in the first set to record the only other Buckeye victory of the day over L. Harvey, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. Fisk lost a three-set match against Nebraska’s Gitte Ostermann, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3, at the No. 2 spot.
Ohio State will travel to Topeka, Kan., to play Kansas at 11:30 a.m. CST Sunday.
