Softball Tops Wittenberg and Miami (Ohio) to Win Raider Fall Classic – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team defeated Wittenberg, 9-0, and Miami (Ohio), 3-2, Sunday afternoon to win the Raider Fall Classic hosted by Wright State University. The Buckeyes fashioned a 4-0 record in the event to conclude their fall schedule with a perfect 9-0 record.
Ohio State sophomore Andrea Tribuzi (Plano, Texas/East) pitched a two-hit shutout against Wittenberg and struck out 10, while allowing just three Tigers to reach base. The Buckeyes collected 11 hits in the game, including two each from freshman Megan Schwab (Glendale, Ariz./Sunrise Mountain), freshman Nycole Koyano (Walnut, Calif./Walnut), freshman Christina Douglas (Mesa, Ariz./Dobson) and junior Natalie Hales (Canton, Ohio/Jackson), who tripled and drove in three runs.
Freshman Jamee Juarez (LaPuente, Calif./Wilson) scattered four hits and struck out eight in leading Ohio State to a 3-2 win over Miami in the Classic’s final contest. She added a single and later scored in the fourth inning as Ohio State scored a pair of runs to overcome a 1-0 deficit. Senior Breana Pozzi (Petaluma, Calif./Casa Grande) smacked a two-run triple in that inning to put the Buckeyes ahead for good. Koyano led the offense with two singles and a pair of runs scored.
Ohio State will conclude its fall training with the Scarlet and Gray Series Oct. 15-21 at Buckeye Field. Games begin at 3 p.m., with the exception of the game Friday, which will begin at 7 p.m. All games are open to the public.
