Women’s Tennis to Open Spring Season at Penn State – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team will travel to State College, Pa., to face the Nittney Lions of Penn State at 11 a.m. Sunday Jan. 26. The Buckeyes will continue road play in Milwaukee, Wis. against Marquette on Friday and Baylor on Saturday. Ohio State will return home against Big Ten rivals Michigan State on Feb. 14 and Michigan Feb. 16.
Ohio State is ranked No. 40 in the Jan. 13 preseason poll and Sadhaf Pervez is ranked No. 75. The Buckeyes are the fourth Big Ten team to appear in the rankings with Northwestern at No. 12, Wisconsin at No. 30 and Michigan at No. 37. In the fall regional rankings released Dec. 10, Pervez is ranked No. 7 and Erica Fisk is ranked No. 25. The duo of Meaghan Colville and Fisk are ranked No. 13 in the region.
Penn State is the only Big Ten school that is not ranked in the Jan. 13 preseason Top 75, however, the Nittany Lions have a talented squad. OSU faced PSU individuals and doubles teams at the OSU/Prince Cup and the Cissie Leary Invitational in the fall. The Buckeyes complied an 8-2 record over Penn State individuals but the Nittany Lions enjoyed a 1-4 advantage in doubles.
