Columbus, Ohio – Seven of 8 seeded women’s tennis players reached the Round of 16 at the OSU/Prince Cup at the Stickney Tennis Center. Notre Dame leads the way with five players advancing (Sarah Jane Connelly, Kelly Nelson, Kristina Stastny, Alicia Salas and Lauren Connelly) and Ohio State advanced three (Erica Fisk, Sadhaf Pervez and Taryn Bowen). Singles play will resume Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
In doubles, Notre Dame, Penn State and Eastern Michigan all advanced three teams to the quarterfinals. For Ohio State, the duo of Erica Fisk and Sadhaf Pervez reached the quarterfinal round. Play was delayed because of rain during doubles and a number of matches were completed indoors at Jesse Owens West Recreation Center on the OSU campus. Doubles play will continue at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
