Pervez Named ITA Summer Circuit Player of the Year – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s tennis senior Sadhaf Pervez (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) has been named the 2002 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Female Summer Circuit Player of Year, the ITA announced.
Pervez reached at least the semifinals of three tournaments this summer. She claimed the women’s singles championship at the ITA National Summer Championships, the final tournament of the circuit. Pervez reached the finals of the tournament at Ohio State and was a semifinalist in Pittsburgh.
The ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit, presented by the U.S. Tennis Association, began in 1993 and is made up of five regional circuits (East, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest and West) for collegiate players as well as the general public. Each region consists of four consecutive tournaments played during the month of July. Each summer the ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit provides more than 1,500 college and junior level players the opportunity to improve their skills during the off-season.
The Buckeyes open their season with the OSU/Prince Cup Sept. 20-22. The three-day tournament will be held at the Stickney Tennis Center on the Ohio State campus.
