COLUMBUS, Ohio-Jim O’Brien, head men’s basketball coach at Ohio State, announced Monday the resignation of Bruce Parkhill, OSU associate head coach.
Parkhill, who spent the last two seasons in Columbus, decided to leave the OSU program to spend more time with his family in State College, Pa., his hometown.
A 25-year veteran of the coaching ranks, Parkhill, 53, was the head coach for 12 years at his alma mater, Penn State University (1984-95). He remained involved with the Nittany Lion athletics department staff after stepping down from his coaching position. He joined O’Brien in Columbus for the start of the 2000-01 season.
“I know this was a difficult decision for Bruce,” O’Brien said. “I feel fortunate to have had him for two years. We all wish him the very best.”
O’Brien said he is working on filling the available position on his staff.
