Women’s Lacrosse Has Two Named IWLCA/USL All-Americans – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s Megan Mirick (Sr., Burke, Va.) and Shannon Wilson (Jr., Sherkston, Ontario) have been named 2002 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association/U.S. Lacrosse All-Americans sponsored by Brine. Mirick was named to the first team attack with Wilson named to the third team midfield.
Mirick, the American Lacrosse Conference Player of the Year, had a team-high 53 goals and six assists this season. The 53 goals is an Ohio State season record. She ranks seventh in the country in goals per game (3.31) and 23rd in scoring (3.69 points per game). Wilson had 23 goals and eight assists with a co-team high 44 ground balls and 33 caused turnovers. She ranks in a tie for 25th nationally in caused turnovers at 2.06.
The Buckeyes finished 11-5 overall and 4-2 in the American Lacrosse Conference, tied for second place. OSU’s 11 wins are the most wins in a season in the seven-year history of the program. The Buckeyes finished the regular season ranked 12th in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association, the highest ranking in the history of the program and received its first-ever bid to the NCAA Championship to close out a memorable season.
