Women’s Tennis Tops Bowling Green, 7-0 – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis won all three doubles matches and all six singles matches to defeat Bowling Green, 7-0, at Jesse Owens West Recreation Center. The win improves No. 38-ranked Ohio State’s record to 12-2 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten, while the Falcons fell to 1-7 on the season. The victory marked OSU’s 10th consecutive home win, one short of the program record for consecutive home wins of 11.%^$
%^$Ohio State won the doubles point for the 12th time this spring, as it swept the doubles competition. At No. 1, Buckeyes Monica Rincon (Sr., Lapeer, Mich./West) and Meaghan Colville (So., Toronto, Ontario/Western Michigan) defeated the duo of Devon Bissinger and Susie Schoenberger, 8-2. At No. 2, OSU’s Erica Fisk (So., Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) and Sadhaf Pervez (Jr., Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) beat the Falcon’s No. 2 pair of Lisa Maloney and Garby Coello, 8-3. Claudia Castro (Dublin, Oh../Aquinas) and Lindsey Adams (Mercer Island, Wash../Mercer Island) won at No. 3, topping Bowling Green’s Jessica Johnson and Alyson Gabel, 8-3.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes won at all six singles spots for the win. No. 54 Rincon easily defeated Maloney, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 and No. 48 Fisk beat Bissinger at No. 2 in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. Pervez, ranked 119th in the nation, followed suit with another Buckeye singles victory, 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 3 three spot over Schoenberger. Matko kept the ball rolling as she topped the Falcon’s No. 4 Alyson Gabel, 6-3, 6-2. Colville took care of business against BGSU’s Laura Kokinda beating her in two sets, 6-1, 6-2. OSU’s Castro rounded out the Buckeyes’ rotation with a straight set victory over the Falcon’s No. 6 Cameron Benjamin.%^$
