Women’s Tennis Shuts Out Cincinnati, 7-0 – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis extended its home winning streak to nine with a victory over Cincinnati, 7-0, tonight at Jesse Owens West Recreation Center.%^$
%^$The win improves the Buckeyes’ season record to 11-2 overall (2-1 Big Ten). The Bearcats fall to 6-6 on the season.%^$
%^$Ohio State won the doubles point, as all three teams posted wins. At No. 1, the Buckeyes’ No. 56-ranked duo of Monica Rincon (Sr., Lapeer, Mich./West) and Meaghan Colville (So., Toronto, Ontario/Western Michigan) beat Jen Capuzzi and Khush Italia, 8-4. At No. 2, OSU’s Erica Fisk (So., Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) and Sadhaf Pervez (Jr., Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) won easily, beating Leen Corneillie and Samantha Liu, 8-1. Michelle Matko (Jr., Aurora, Ill./Aurora West) and Lindsay Williams (So., Beverly Hills, Mich./Birmingham Groves) won at No. 3, beating Lyndsey Molony and Cris Reyes, 8-3.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes also swept the singles competition, including four straight-set wins. No. 54 Rincon defeated Reyes, 6-0, 7-5, at No. 1, while No. 48 Fisk posted a win over Capuzzi, 6-3, 7-6 (7). Pervez won at No. 3 over Italia and Williams won in straight sets over Corneillie. Matko came back to win at No. 4 over Molony, as she dropped the first set, 6-7, but rebounded to win the last two by identical 6-4 scores. Colville defeated Julie Klauck at No. 6 in a match tiebreaker. Colville won the first set, 6-2, before losing the second in a tiebreaker.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes return to action with a double-header Saturday, facing Bowling Green at 9 a.m. and Drake at 6 p.m. The matches are scheduled to be played outdoors at the Stickney Tennis Center . In the event of inclement weather, they will be moved indoors to Jesse Owens West Recreation Center. BGSU and Drake will face off at 1 p.m. Saturday as well.%^$
