Five Buckeyes To Compete At NCAA Indoor Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will send five members of the 2002 indoor track and field team to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships March 8 & 9 at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. A total of 270 participants will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for each event.%^$
%^$Senior co-captain Katy Craig (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) is ranked fourth in the women’s weight throw. Craig recorded a mark of 21.11 meters on Feb. 24 that guided the Buckeyes to a fifth-place finish at the Big Ten Indoor Championships. She earned her second-consecutive title in the weight throw and set a Big Ten Championships and career record with her toss.%^$
%^$Sophomore Dalanda Jackson (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) ranks ninth in the 60-meter hurdles. Jackson ran a time of 8.25 seconds Feb. 23 in the 60-meter trials at the Big Ten Indoor Championships. Jackson finished second in the event.%^$
%^$Junior Tami Smith (Galloway, Ohio/Westland) ranks 10th in the high jump. Smith recorded a season-best jump of 1.83 meters Feb. 9 at the New York Invitational, held in New York City. She also captured her second straight Big Ten Championship Feb. 24.%^$
%^$Sophomore Alexis McCall (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) ranks 15th in the shot put. McCall threw a distance of 16.02 meters for a first-place finish at the Big Ten Indoor Championships on Feb. 23.%^$
%^$On the men’s side, junior Dan Taylor (Middlefield, Ohio/Berkshire) is the lone Buckeye participating in the NCAA Championships. Taylor ranks fifth in the shot put, earning the seed with a toss of 20.02 meters on Feb. 2 at the Ohio State Invitational in the French Field House.%^$
