Rincon Named Big Ten Women’s Tennis Player of the Month – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio- The Big Ten Conference today announced Ohio State senior Monica Rincon (Lapeer, Mich./Lapeer West) has been named its player of the month for March. It is the first such honor in Rincon’s career and extends the Buckeyes streak of at least one honoree per season to four years.%^$
%^$Rincon, the Buckeyes’ No. 1 singles player, moved up to the No. 53 spot in the national rankings, the highest ranking of her career. During the month, she went 6-1 in singles, including a five-match winning streak. Rincon, with a career record of 96-43, is just four wins away from becoming just the second player in program history to reach the 100-win mark for her career. Rincon is 13-2 in the spring and 20-7 overall this season, tied for the team lead in wins.%^$
%^$In doubles, Rincon pairs with Meaghan Colville (So., Toronto, Ontario/Western Michigan) to form the No. 36-ranked team in the nation. The tandem was a perfect 7-0 in March, including wins over ranked opponents from Notre Dame and Iowa. The duo is 12-3 at No. 1 doubles this spring. This year, Rincon has gone 19-8 in doubles competition.%^$
%^$The No. 32-ranked Buckeyes (15-2, 3-1 Big Ten) put their six-match winning streak on the line when they return to action at 11 a.m. April 6 against No. 58 Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. The squad will face the Michigan State Spartans at 10 a.m. the next day in East Lansing, Mich.
