No. 6 Women’s Golf Stands Third in Texas – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The sixth-ranked Ohio State women’s golf team opened the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational Monday with a team score of 307, good for third place. No. 2 Duke (297) leads the 14-team field, while tournament host and fifth-ranked Texas is in second place with a 304.
The tournament, hosted in Austin, Texas, at the par-71 Palmer-Lakeside Course, was shortened to 27 holes Monday as rain and cold weather limited play from the original plan for 36 holes of play. The final 27 holes will be play Tuesday.
Allison Hanna (So., Portland, Ore./David Douglas) led the Buckeyes with a 75 (+4) as she tied for seventh place in the opening round. Freshman Kristen White (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) has a solid first round with a 10th-place 76, while Natalie Aber (Sr., Akron, Ohio/Springfield) was right behind with a 77.
Mollie Fankhauser (Jr., Dublin, Ohio/Cols. School for Girls) shot a 79 for a 23rd-place standing, while Ashley Lowery (Sr., West Lafayette, Ind./Kansas), competing as an individual, fired an 83. Lindsay Knowlton (Fr., Toronto, Canada/Havergal College) wrapped up the Buckeyes’ scoring with an 85.
Texas sophomore Janice Olivencia scored a 3-under 68 to hold the individual lead by five strokes after the first round. She was the lone player to break par Monday.
The tournament concludes Tuesday with the final 27 holes of play.
