COLUMBUS, Ohio – Wendy Allen (So., Moreno Valley, Calif./Moreno Valley) and Katie Chain (Jr., North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) were selected as the Big Ten Player and Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the week of March 11-17 the conference announced Thursday. It is the first Big Ten honors garnered by the Buckeyes this year.
Allen had a huge week for OSU as the Buckeyes went 7-1 in their first home action of the year, including a 5-0 mark in the Buckeye Invitational to capture the tournament title. Allen earned the most valuable player honors at the Buckeye Invitational and went 12-for-21 from the plate with five doubles, two home runs and seven runs scored to lead Ohio State to a 6-1 record.
