Women’s Tennis Tops Minnesota, 5-2 – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio State women’s tennis team got back to its winning ways, defeating Minnesota, 5-2, today in Minneapolis. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten. The Gophers fall to 3-8, 0-3 in conference play.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes won two-of-three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. At No. 2, Buckeyes Erica Fisk (So., Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) and Sadhaf Pervez (Jr., Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) defeated Kelly Perry and Andrea Rose, 8-3. Michelle Matko (Jr., Aurora, Ill./Aurora West) and Lindsay Williams (So., Beverly Hills, Mich./Birmingham Groves) posted their ninth win of the spring, topping Jennifer Howard and Watts, 8-6. The tandem of Monica Rincon (Sr., Lapeer, Mich./West) and Meaghan Colville (So., Toronto, Ontario/Western Michigan) lost a close match at No. 1, falling to Michaela Havelkova and Valerie Vladea, in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (8).%^$
%^$Ohio State won four of six singles matches, all in straight sets, to clinch the win. Rincon beat Havelkova at No. 1, Pervez beat Rose at No. 3, Matko won at No. 4 over Howard and Williams defeated Perry. At No. 6, Lindsey Adams (Fr., Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) lost the first set and rebounded to win the second before losing in a tiebreaker.%^$
