Buckeyes Successful At Georgia Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio– The Ohio State men’s and women’s diving team competed at the Georgia Diving Invitational in Athens, Ga. this weekend with fine success. Three Buckeyes finishing in the top five.
On the women’s side Melanie Johnson (Jr., Boca Raton, Fla./Olympic Heights) took home first place in the three-meter with a score of 486.35. Johnson also placed sixth in the one-meter dive with a score of 249.90. Fellow Buckeye Jillian Cicione (Jr., Plantation, Fla./St. Thomas) also had a strong showing, placing in the top ten in both the one and three-meter dives. Cicione recorded scores of 438.00 and 213.00 in the two events.
Heath Knowling had a very good performance for the men. He finished second in the one-meter dive with a score of 307.20 and seventh in the three-meter dive with a score of 473.40. Mitch Richeson finished fifth in the three-meter dive with a score of 485.70 and placed sixth in the one-meter (280.30).
The Buckeyes hit the road again this weekend when they take on Ball State in Muncie, Ind. Friday at 4 p.m. and Indiana in Bloomington, Ind. Saturday at 1 p.m.
