Buckeyes And Illini Swim To A 150-150 Tie – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team tied Big Ten rival Illinois 150-150 Saturday at the Mike Peppe Aquatic Center. The first tie for the season makes the Buckeyes’ overall record 4-8-1. Ohio State was victorious in eight of the 16 events.
Katie Severson (So., Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota West) paced the Buckeyes with two first-place victories in the 50 freestyle (24.24) and the 100 freestyle (52.36). Other winners for Ohio State included Kristin Sander (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:50.96, Kristin Sendrowski (Sr., Garden City, N.Y./Valley Central) in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:05.61, and Stephanie Raezer (So., Newark, Del./Glasgow) in the 200 IM (2:08.91). The 400 freestyle relay team of Kylee Lancken, Severson, Sander and Lindsay Goodson (So., SanRamon, Calif./Carondelet) also finished first with a time of 3:29.71 to clinch the tie in the final event of the meet.
Melanie Johnson (Jr., Boca Raton, Fla./Olympic Heights) dominated again on the boards, taking first in the 1-meter dive (263.40) and 3-meter dive (287.33).
The Buckeyes are back in action 5 p.m. Friday when they close out the regular season against Louisville at the Mike Peppe Aquatic Center in Larkins Hall. Admission is free.
