Buckeyes Defeated By Michigan, Michigan State – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio-The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team was defeated today at a tri-meet with Big Ten rivals Michigan and Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich. The Buckeyes fell 148-94 to the Wolverines and 145-98 to the Spartans. The two losses drop the Buckeyes to 4-8 on the season.
Against the Spartans, the Buckeyes were victorious in four events. Kristin Sander (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio) took first in the 200 freestyle with a season-best time of 1:52.68. Erika Staley (Jr., Piqua, Ohio) took first in the 100 breaststroke with her season-best time of 1:06.28 and the 400 freestyle relay team of Kylie Lancken (Fr., Sydney, Australia), Amanda Treleaven (So., Colonial Light, Australia), Lindsay Goodson (So., Sam Ramon, Calif.) and Sander took first with a time of 3:34.10.
Melanie Johnson (Jr., Boca Raton, Fla.) took first in the 3-meter dive with a score of 299.40 against the Spartans.
OSU again took first place in four events against the Wolverines. Sander took first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.68 and Lancken took first in the 100 freestyle (:53.09).
Johnson and Jillian Cicione (Jr., Plantation, Fla.) went one-two in both diving events against Michigan. Johnson scored 253.60 in the 1-meter dive and 299.40 in the 3-meter dive. Cicione scored 232.95 in the 1-meter dive and 264.45 in the 3-meter.
The Buckeyes are back in action next Saturday at 2 p.m when they close out the Big Ten regular season against Illinois at the Mike Peppe Aquatic Center.
