Women’s Tennis Players Win Doubles Crown at the ITA National Summer Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio– Two members of the Ohio State women’s tennis team became national champions today. Monica Rincon (Sr., Lapeer, Mich.) and Erica Fisk (So., Indianapolis, Ind.) claimed victory in the women’s doubles final at the ITA National Summer Championships held at Indiana University
The unseeded OSU tandem defeated North Carolina’s Kendall Cline and TCU’s Saber Pierce 8-6 to win the title. With the win the duo receives a wild card berth into the Oct. 11-14 ITA Men’s and Women’s All-American Championships. In addition to the wild card berth, Rincon and Fisk earned USTA gold balls.
The ITA Summer Championships are the paramount event of the ITA Summer Circuit and are sanctioned by the United States Tennis Association and the U.S. National Amateur Tennis Championships. Amateurs, most of whom are collegians, compete in the prestigious event.
