Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Announces Academic Squad – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State women’s lacrosse midfielders Celeste Cianfrani (Sr., Telford, Pa./Souderton) and Trisha Miller (Jr., Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) have earned Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Division I academic honors, the IWLCA announced.
Cianfrani was one of 98 student-athletes that received a degree during spring commencement graduating with a degree in communications. She was named a Mid-Atlantic Regional First Team All-American for defense and led the team with 69 groundballs. She also added 15 points, six goals and nine assists. Cianfrani is the all-time OSU career points leader with 137 points as she surpassed Mara Simpson’s record of 133 points.
Miller is a pharmacy major set to graduate in spring quarter 2002. Miller finished the 2001 season with two points off one goal and one assist. She finished third on the team with 44 groundballs.
Cianfrani and Miller are two on the list of 184 collegiate women’s lacrosse players recognized by the IWLCA for academic excellence. To be nominated for consideration a student-athlete must have a minimum of a 3.2 GPA, be a starter or an important reserve on a collegiate women’s lacrosse team and hold a junior or senior class standing.
This is the ninth year the IWLCA has selected an academic squad for Divisions I, II and III.
