Women’s Tennis Closes Out Michigan State – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio– On a breathtakingly beautiful Sunday morning the Ohio State women’s tennis team extended two streaks when it thumped visiting Michigan State 6-1 at the Stickney Tennis Center. The Buckeyes (15-5, 6-0 Big Ten) have won six matches in a row and extended their Big Ten regular-season winning streak to 13. OSU swept the Spartans (6-12, 0-7 Big Ten) in doubles play and cruised to five singles victories en route to the convincing win.%^$
%^$ The Buckeyes dominated five singles matches. At No. 1, reigning Big Ten Athlete of the Month, Kristy Dascoli (Sr., Bradenton, Fla.) cruised past freshman Caroline Lay 6-0, 6-0. Monica Rincon (Jr., Lapeer, Mich.) followed suit with a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 win over Natasha Skogerboe at No. 2. Sadhaf Pervez (So., Warren, N.J.) showed little mercy in beating Trine Lise Juliussen 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot. Lindsay Williams (Fr., Beverly Hills, Mich.) and Claudia Castro (Jr., Dublin, Ohio) picked up the Buckeyes final two victories at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots respectively.%^$
%^$ The Buckeyes swept the doubles matches. At No. 1, Dascoli and Rincon dominated Lay and Juliussen 8-1. Pervez and Laura Maloney (Sr., Barrington, Ill.) picked up their team-best 15th dual-match win by dropping Skogerboe and Mollie Hood 8-4. At No. 3 Erica Fisk (Fr., Indianapolis, Ind.) and Castro needed little time to dispatch Christee Chargot and Heidi Leffler 8-2.%^$
%^$ The Buckeyes return to action Wednesday at 2:30 against the University of Kentucky. The match will be contested at the Stickney Tennis Center weather permitting.%^$
