OSU Captures 16th Marshall Invitational Title – Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State captured its 16th Marshall Invitational Title and first title of the 2000-01 season today, scoring 283-275-281=839. OSU has now won 16 of the 32 Marshall Invitationals. The Buckeyes also recorded the tournament record low team score of 839. The tournament was hosted by Marshall University at the Guyan Golf and Country Club (par 71) in Huntington, W.Va.
The Buckeyes were led by Mike Austin (Sr., Burton, Mich./Flint Powers Catholic) who captured individual medalist honors, scoring 67-67-74=208. Austin’s score ties the Marshall Invitational record for lowest 54-hole score set by Michael Harris of Michigan in 1998.
Jason Oien (Jr., New Albany/Westerville North) finished at 212 to tie for 6th place. Kevin Hall (Fr., Cincinnati, Ohio/St.Rita) finished at 213 to tie for 10th place. Ryan Dennis (Jr., Stow, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) and Justin Collins (So., Ironton, Ohio/Ironton) tied for 27th, shooting a three- round total of 217.
The Buckeyes will next host the Kepler Invitational April 14-15 at the OSU Scarlet Course.
