Ian Connor Finishes Third In Steeplechase Championship at Penn Relays – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio–In the Buckeyes only men’s event of the day, distance runner Ian Connor (Sr., Lexington, Ohio) ran a season-best time of 8:44.01 to earn a third-place finish in the steeplechase championship at the 107th running of the Penn Relay Carnival in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Buckeye women’s 4×400-meter relay of Onica Fraser (So., Brooklyn, N.Y.), Dalanda Jackson (Fr., Shaker Heights, Ohio), Tina Johnson (Sr., Burlington, N.J.) and Donica Merriman (Sr., Trotwood, Ohio) finished third in its heat with a time of 3:39.02 to qualify for Saturday’s college final.
The Buckeyes will face some of the country’s best in the final. Four of the eight qualifiers, Tulane (No. 10), Auburn (No. 23), Florida International (No. 25) and Kent State (No. 27), hold national rankings.
In other women’s action, Dalanda Jackson finished third in 400-meter hurdles with a time of 60.02 and Alexis McCall (Fr., Elyria, Ohio) took eighth in the shot put with a throw of 14.37m (47' 1.75?).
The Buckeyes begin competition Friday at 10 a.m. with the men’s high jump. Donica Merriman (Sr., Trotwood, Ohio) will defend her Penn Relay meet record in the 100-meter hurdles at 3:20 p.m.
