Men’s Gymnastics Pummels The Gauchos 211.350-202.200 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio— The Ohio State men’s gymnastics team easily handled the No. 17 UC Santa Barbara Gauchos 211.350-202.200 in California. Buckeyes took first place in all six events, as well as the all-around competition. Leading the charge were sophomores Raj Bhavsar (So., Houston, Texas) and Dick Huntwork (So., Pickerington, Ohio). The duo placed first on parallel bars and floor exercises respectively. Huntwork also took the all-around crown. Several of the younger members of the team, including Ryan Schwartzkopf (So, Columbus, Ind.) Jamey Houle (Fr. Enfield, Conn.) and Eric Van Sickle (Fr. Hilliard, Ohio) contributed significantly to the overall effort. Schwartzkopf took first on pommel horse with a score of 9.050. Houle placed second on parallel bars behind Bhavsar, and took second in all-around behind Huntwork. Mitch Claman (Jr., LaPalma, Calif.) placed first on rings with a score of 8.700. Seniors Jay Nardelli (Sr., Centreville, Va.) and Daren Lynch (Sr., Londonderry, N.H.) rounded out the Buckeyes winning events, with victories on high bar and vault respectively.
