No. 21 Women’s Tennis Handles Wisconsin – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio– The Ohio State women’s tennis team remained perfect in the Big Ten with a 5-2 victory over Wisconsin on Sunday. With the win OSU is 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten. Wisconsin falls to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in league play. The Buckeyes went 4-1 during their five match homestand with their only defeat coming to No. 5 Notre Dame. In that stretch, OSU knocked off two ranked teams in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The Buckeyes won all but one singles match. At No. 1 Kristy Dascoli (Sr., Bradenton, Fla.), ranked No. 31 in the nation, added another line to her already impressive resume with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Vanessa Rauh. At No. 3 Sadhaf Pervez (So., Warren, N.J.) won 6-2, 6-4 as she dispatched Katie Dougherty and Erica Fisk (Fr., Indianapolis, Ind.) rallied from one set down to defeat Linde Mues 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 4.
The Buckeyes took two of the doubles matches to the wire, but won only one of them. Laura Maloney (Sr., Barrington, Ill.) and Pervez had to work overtime for OSU’s lone victory. The duo knocked off Teresa Gonzaga and Lara Vojnov, 9-7 at No. 2.
The Buckeyes do not compete again until March 10 when OSU travels to Knoxville to battle the No. 14 Lady Volunteers of Tennessee. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
