Softball Falls to Iowa, 2-0, in Game Two of Doubleheader – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio– Iowa pitcher Sarah Thomson tossed a no-hitter against the Ohio State softball team (23-11 overall) to lead the Hawkeyes to a 2-0 win and doubleheader-sweep over the Buckeyes in game two of a conference-opening twin bill at Buckeye Field.%^$
%^$Wendy Allen (Fr., Moreno Valley, Calif./Moreno Valley) took the loss for the Buckeyes, giving up five hits and two runs (one earned) in 4.2 innings of work. She is now 4-2 on the season. Katie Chain (So., North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) threw 1.1 innings of relief work, striking out one without giving up a hit.%^$
%^$Iowa scored one run in both the second and third innings.%^$
%^$Iowa Third baseman Lisa Rasche singled to left field to open the second inning. She reached third on the play when OSU second baseman Jenn Link (So., Yorba Linda, Calif./Sonora) mishandled a throw at first and the ball rolled into the Hawkeye dugout. Rightfielder Liz Dennis singled to center field to score Rasche and put the Hawkeyes up 1-0.%^$
%^$In the third, shortstop Kristin Johnson doubled to right field with one out. Following a strikeout, catcher Katy Jendrzejewski doubled down the right field line to score Johnson.%^$
%^$OSU will play host to Northwestern at Buckeye Field tomorrow at 2 p.m.
