Women’s Tennis Squeaks by UNLV – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio– The Ohio State women’s tennis team garnered its 10th win of the season Thursday evening in Las Vegas when the team defeated UNLV 4-3. The Lady Rebels fell to 4-7 on the year and the Buckeyes are 10-5.
The Buckeyes won three singles matches-all in straight sets. At No. 1 Kristy Dascoli (Sr., Bradenton, Fla.), knocked off Paulina Janus 6-3, 6-3. Monica Rincon (Jr., Lapeer, Mich.) won her eighth match in a row by beating Agnieszka Abram 6-3, 7-6. The Buckeyes’ other singles win was at the four spot. Erica Fisk (Fr., Indianapolis, Ind.) won handily over Urska Radanovic 6-3, 6-2. Dascoli, Rincon and Fisk each lead the team with 19 wins.
The Buckeyes won two of the three doubles matches to win the point. At No. 1 Dascoli and Rincon won 8-5 over Janus and Abram. The duo of Sadhaf Pervez (So., Warren, N.J.) and Lindsay Williams (Fr., Beverly Hills, Mich.) dropped Marianne Bakken and Amy Hadziosmanovic 8-3.
The Buckeyes face their third Big Ten opponent on the year when they travel to Iowa to battle the Hawkeyes on March 24. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
