Women’s Lacrosse Rallies to Top Monmouth – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio– The Ohio State women’s lacrosse team bounced back after its first loss of the year Sunday to beat the Hawks of Monmouth University, 14-7, on a soggy Wednesday afternoon. The Buckeyes are 3-1 on the year and the Hawks are 2-2.
In the contest OSU started slow, but finished strong scoring the final 11 goals of the match. The Buckeyes once trailed 7-3, but came alive in the end of the first half to take an 8-7 lead into halftime. Megan Mirick (Jr., Burke, Va.) was the difference in the first half as she scored three of her four goals in the game with less than three minutes left in the period.
The second half was all Buckeyes as Mirick tallied again and then assisted on Tracey Bounds (So., Ellicott City, Md.) second goal of the game midway through the second half. From there the Buckeyes never looked back as they outscored the Hawks 6-0 in the second stanza.
OSU returns to action March 24, when the Buckeyes welcome Denver to Columbus for their third home game of the season. The match will be contested at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium and will commence at 4 p.m.
