Natalia Diea Advances To NCAA Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Natalia Diea (Jr., Austin, Texas/University of Texas) qualified for the NCAA Championships with her performance at the zone-C qualifying rounds that were held in Bloomington, Ind. Diea qualified in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform dive.
At the NCAA zone-C diving meet, Diea won the platform dive with a score of 399.25, beating Indiana’s Mamie Goodson by nearly 60 points. Heading into the NCAA Championships, Diea is one of the favorites to take first place in the platform. Advancing in the 3-meter dive, Diea placed second (485.10) behind Indiana’s Erin Quinn. Diea placed seventh in the 1-meter with the score of 268.00, where she advanced as well.
The NCAA Championships will be hosted by the Eastern College Athletic Conference at the Nassau Aquatic Center in Eisenhower Park on Long Island. The events will be held March 15, 16, and 17th with the trials beginning each day at 11 a.m. and the finals starting each night at 7 p.m.
The 2001 women’s swimming and diving championships will be aired on ESPN on tape delay. Airdate is scheduled for March 23 at 2 p.m. EST.
