Women’s Tennis Falls to Tennessee – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio–The Ohio State women’s tennis team dropped an out of conference match to Tennessee, 5-2, Saturday. The Lady Vols are the fifth opponent in the Top 15 OSU has played. With the loss the Buckeyes are 9-5 on the year.
In singles the Buckeyes claimed two victories. At No. 1 Kristy Dascoli (Sr., Bradenton, Fla.) outlasted Alison Ojeda 6-3, 0-6, 6-2. Monica Rincon (Jr., Lapeer, Mich.) recorded OSU’s only other win by dropping Kim Gates, 1-6, 6-2, 6-2, at No.2.
The Buckeyes were unable to claim the doubles point as they were defeated in all three matches. At No. 1 Dascoli and Rincon failed to get the best of Gates and Vilmarie Castellvi, as the tandem dropped the Buckeye duo 8-5.
Ohio State is off until March 22 when it travels to Las Vegas for a non-conference showdown with UNLV.
