No. 20 Women’s Tennis Falls to No. 3 Duke – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio– The No. 20 Ohio State women’s tennis team was defeated by No. 3 Duke, Friday in College Park, Md. This was OSU’s first match since Jan. 27, and the loss was the Buckeyes first of the season. The match was Duke’s second of the season.
In singles, the Buckeyes fought hard, but were unable to upset any of the Blue Devils. No. 19 Kristy Dascoli (Sr., Bradenton, Fla.) played hard, but was defeated by freshman sensation, No. 2 Ansley Cargill 6-2, 6-4, at No. 1 singles.
In doubles the Buckeyes took two of the three matches to the wire, but came up short. At No. 1, Dascoli and Monica Rincon (Jr., Lapeer, Mich.) were defeated by Megan Miller and Amanda Johnson 8-5. At No. 3, Erica Fisk (Fr., Indianapolis, Ind.) and Claudia Castro (Jr., Dublin, Ohio) lost to Hillary Adams and Katie Granson, 8-5.
The Buckeyes return to action Saturday battling Maryland at 4 p.m. in College Park.
