Amanda Treleaven Named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Amanda Treleaven (Fr., Colonel Light, Australia/Norwood) earned Big Ten swimmer of the week honors for her record-setting night against Oakland, Friday. Treleaven is the first Buckeye to garner this award this season.
Treleaven set two new records and just missed three, as the Buckeyes went on to defeat Oakland, 152-148. In the 200 freestyle she set a new pool record of 1:49.62, shattering the old record (1:49.90) held by 2000 Olympian Kim Black. In the first leg of the 400 medley relay, Treleaven also set a new school record of :56.42, beating the old time of :56.63, held by Julie Hutzler. Treleaven also qualified as an NCAA B-cut in the 200 backstroke, posting a time of 2:00.35 and just missing the school record by two one-hundreths of a second.
The Buckeyes are in action again at the Big Ten Championships, Feb. 15-17, in Bloomington, Ind.
