Women’s Swimming/Diving Finish Day One At Big Ten Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team (6-7 overall 0-4 Big Ten) finished the first day of the Big Ten Championships at Indiana University. The events for today were the 50 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, 200 individual medley, 400 medley relay, and 1-meter diving. The Buckeyes trail after a full day of events in Bloomington, Ind.
Amanda Treleaven (Fr., Colonol Light, Australia/Norwood) continued on breaking records. Treleaven set a new school record of :56.22 in the first leg of the 400 medley relay. The Buckeyes reached the finals in the 400 medley relay and finished eighth with a time of 3:47.71. Placing 11th in the finals was the 200 freestyle relay team of Johanna Baran (Sr., Danville, Calif./San Ramon), Kristin Sander (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy), Amanda Messmer (Jr., Worthington, Ohio/Bowling Green), and Lindsay Goodson (Fr., San Ramon, Calif/Carondelet) with a time of 1:36.94.
On the boards, Natalia Diea (Jr., Austin, Texas/Texas University) took sixth place for the Buckeyes with a score of 275.
The Buckeyes head into day two of the Big Ten Championships Feb. 16, in Bloomington, Ind.
