Osu Track and Field Sweeps Conference Honors – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio– Andrew Pierce (Sr., Yellow Springs, Ohio/ Yellow Springs) and Donica Merriman (Sr., Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood) received Athletes of the Week in the Big Ten Conference for the week of Feb. 11. This is the second time both athletes have received the award this season. Pierce and Merriman swept the award the week of Jan 7. Pierce became the owner of the fastest time in the nation in the 400-meter dash when he posted a time if 46.00 at the United States Track and Field Collegiate Invitational. With his time, Pierce automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Pierce also led the 4×400-meter relay team and the distance medley relay team to provisional qualifying times of 3:07.76 and 9:43.12, respectively. Merriman posted a time of 8.03 in the 60-meter hurdles to finish first and qualify for the 2001 NCAA Indoor Championships. She now possesses the fastest time in the nation.
