No. 20 Women’s Tennis Blanks Maryland – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio– The No. 20 Ohio State women’s tennis team rebounded from its first loss of the season by romping No. 62 Maryland, 7-0 Saturday in College Park, Md. It was OSU’s fourth victory in five tries. The match was Maryland’s fourth of the season. The Terrapins are now 2-2.
The Buckeyes won every singles match. Leading the way, were No. 19, Kristy Dascoli (Sr., Bradenton, Fla.) and Monica Rincon (Jr., Lapeer, Mich.), both winning in three sets. At No. 1, Dascoli faced a tough test in Olivia Dubovikov, but prevailed, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Rincon rallied from one set down to beat Delila Causevic, 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3, at No. 2.
The Buckeyes also swept the doubles matches. At No. 1, Dascoli and Rincon won their singles match, 8-3, besting Dubovikov and Emily Marker. At No. 2, Sadhaf Pervez (So., Warren, N.J.) and Laura Maloney (Sr., Barrington, Ill.) needed little time to discharge Chole Chavardes and Pamela Floro, 8-1.
OSU takes its No. 20 ranking to the ITA National Team Indoors in Madison, Wisc., Feb.15-18, before returning back to campus for their first home match of the season, Feb. 24 against DePaul. Sixteen of the Top 25 teams in the nation will be participating in ITA National Team Indoors.
