Columbus, Ohio- Ohio State women’s swimming head coach Jeanne Fleck today announced the signing of Deanna Strunk, a senior from West Lawn, Pa. to a National Letter of Intent. Strunk will enroll at Ohio State and will begin competing for the Buckeyes in 2002-03.
Strunk, a senior at Wilson High School in West Lawn, Pa., will add great depth to a young and talented Buckeye squad. Strunk is very strong in the 100 and 200 individual medley and in the backstroke as well. As a junior at Wilson, she finished sixth in the 200 I.M. and sixth in the 100 backstroke at the Pennsylvania State Championships. This past spring she finished fifth at the YMCA Nationals in the 100 backstroke and eighth in the 400 I.M.
“We are very excited to have her as a Buckeye,” Fleck said. “She will come in and make an immediate impact for our team and at the Big Ten meet right away. She is very versatile and can fill a lot of spots on our squad.”
