Women’s Tennis Concludes Play At Midwest Blast Tournament – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio State women’s tennis team completed competition at the fourth annual Midwest Blast Tournament in Champaign, Ill. on Sunday. The University of Illinois hosted the event and all matches were played at the Atkins Tennis Center. The tournament was played in the dual-match format, but does not count toward team records. Joining OSU in the field was host Illinois, Georgia Tech and Baylor.
In singles competition, three different Buckeyes claimed victories and the team combined to post a 3-2 record. Erica Fisk (So., Indianapolis, Ind./Pike), Claudia Castro (Sr., Dublin, Ohio/Aquinas) and Michelle Matko (Sr., Aurora, Ill./West) scored wins for the Buckeyes.
In doubles, OSU split four matches. Meaghan Colville (So., Toronto, Ontario/Western Michigan) paired with Monica Rincon (Sr., Lapeer, Mich./West). Matko and Lindsay Williams (So., Beverly Hills, Mich./Birmingham Grove) picked up the second win for OSU.
The Buckeyes concluded their fall season at the Midwest Blast Invitational. They begin dual match play at noon, Jan, 26 against West Virginia in Columbus. The match will be contested in Jesse Owens West Recreational Center
