Scarlet Takes Game One of Scarlet and Gray Championship – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio -In game one of the Scarlet and Gray Championships, the Scarlet used a seven-run second inning to cruise to a 8-4 win over the Gray at Buckeye Field.
The Scarlet racked up seven hits in the inning. Sarah West (Sr., Galloway, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) smacked both a double and three-run home run in the inning to bring in five of the seven runs.
Wendy Allen (So., Moreno Valley, Calif./Moreno Valley) took the loss for the Gray. She registered nine strikeouts and didn’t allow a hit for the remainder of the game after struggling through the second inning. She contributed three singles and scored one run on the offensive side.
Jenn Elwell (Sr., Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child) picked up the win for the Gray, allowing five hits.
“There were some mistakes out there today, but it was good to get some experience for our younger players,” Linda Kalafatis, OSU head coach, said.
Game two of the series will be played tomorrow at 3:15 p.m
