Men’s Soccer At No. 14 In NSCAA/adidas National Rankings – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio-The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its NSCAA/adidas Men’s Division I National Poll Monday. Ohio State is No. 14 in the poll, which is the most widely recognized national and regional soccer ranking system in the country.
The ranking comes on the heels of the Buckeyes’ 3-2 upset of previously unbeaten No. 5 St. John’s Oct. 28. Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, Ohio State is 10-3-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the Big Ten.
Only two other Big Ten schools-No. 7 Indiana and No. 23 Penn State-are ranked in the Top 25. Four of Ohio State’s 2001 opponents are ranked-No. 1 Southern Methodist, No. 4 Indiana, No. 7 St. John’s, and No. 23 Penn State.
The Buckeyes are 17th in the Soccertimes.com Coaches Poll and 18th in the Soccer America poll this week. The NSCAA/adidas regional rankings also were released Monday. Ohio State is No. 2 behind Indiana.
John Bluem and his Buckeyes will battle Michigan at 7 p.m. Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in their final home contest of the season. Sunday, Ohio State heads to Madison, Wis. for a 2 p.m. matchup with the Badgers. The 2001 Big Ten Tournament, which also will take place at Wisconsin, is Nov. 8-11.
