Swimming Splits Coed Meet In Season Opener – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio-The Ohio State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams split matches with the Ohio Bobcats in Athens, Ohio tonight. The men were victorious 136-96, while the women went down 142-99.
The men won 10 out of 14 events in the meet. Winners for the Buckeyes included Rob Tiernan in the 1000 freestyle, David Paul in the 200 freestyle, Adam Dehne in the 50 freestyle, Tommy Seay in the 200 IM, Nick Rees in the 200 butterfly, and Nick Cheney in the 100 freestyle. Divers victorious on the men’s side included Heath Knowling in the 3-meter dive and Chris Monson in the 1-meter dive.
Winners for the Buckeyes on the women’s side included Amanda Treleaven in the 200 backstroke, Melanie Johnson in the 3-meter dive and Jillian Cicione in the 1-meter dive.
Both Buckeye squads return to the water on Saturday, Nov. 3 for their home opener when they host Maryland and Virginia Tech at noon at the Mike Peppe Aquatic Center in Larkins Hall.
