Women’s Tennis Players Participate in Singles and Doubles Finals at the Cissie Leary Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio-After four singles matches and three doubles matches in the span of two days, Ohio State women’s tennis player Erica Fisk (So., Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) wound up on the Lott Courts at the Levy Pavilion on Sunday playing for the singles and doubles crowns at the Cissie Leary Invitational in Philadelphia, Pa.%^$
%^$Fisk advanced to the singles semifinals after winning her first four matches – two of which went to three sets – of the tournament. On her journey she dropped No. 4 seed Alice Pirsu of Penn and No. 9-16 seed Jeanette Cluskey of Richmond. Fisk, a No. 9-16, met No. 5 seed Lara Van Rooyen of Old Dominion in the semifinals. Fisk dropped the first set before regrouping to defeat the 90th-ranked player in the nation, 6-7, 6-2, 6-3. In the finals, Fisk met Old Dominion’s Nataly Cahana, the No. 1 seed and the No. 4 player in the nation. Cahana defeated the unranked Buckeye, 6-2, 6-0.%^$
%^$In doubles, Fisk teamed with Monica Rincon (Sr., Lapeer, Mich./West) to advance to the finals. The duo – ranked No. 33 in the nation and seeded second – received a first round bye before ripping off three consecutive wins for a finals showdown with the No. 1 seed from ODU, Cahana and Ana Radeljevic. The Monarch’s duo, ranked No. 28, won the match, 8-6.%^$
%^$After a strong showing in Philadelphia, the Buckeyes are off until Oct. 11-14 when the team travels to Pacific Palisades, Calif., for the All-American Championships.%^$
