Buckeyes Eliminated from National Clay Courts – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis doubles team of Kristy Dascoli (Sr., Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Academy) and Monica Rincon (Jr., Lapeer, Mich./West) was defeated in the semifinal round of the T. Rowe Price National Intercollegiate Clay Court Championships today. The tournament, the opening leg of the collegiate grand slam, is being held at the Suburban Club of Baltimore County in Pikesville, Md.
No. 8-ranked and No. 4-seeded Dascoli and Rincon lost to No. 5 Janet Bergman and Bea Bielik of Wake Forest, the No. 2-seed in the tourney, 6-1, 7-5.
Dascoli, ranked No. 33, lost in three sets, including two tiebreakers, in the semifinals of the consolation draw. She was defeated by Baylor’s Vida Mulec, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (2), 6-4.
The Buckeyes will next compete Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
