Buckeyes Advance in National Clay Court Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s doubles team of Kristy Dascoli (Sr., Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Academy) and Monica Rincon (Jr., Lapeer, Mich./West) posted a three-set win in the first round of the T. Rowe Price National Intercollegiate Clay Court Championships today. The tournament, held at the Suburban Club of Baltimore County in Pikesville, Md., will continue Friday with the quarterfinal round.
No. 4-seed Dascoli and Rincon, the No. 8-ranked team, defeated Bruna Colosio and Lauren Haddix of LSU, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. The OSU duo will face Ashleigh Doman and Maria Galoustova of Oklahoma State in the quarterfinals.
In first-round singles action, No. 33-ranked Dascoli was defeated by No. 1-seed Colosio of LSU, the No. 6 (tied) player in the country (6-1, 6-3). Dascoli will face Kentucky’s Carolina Mayorga in the first round of the consolation draw Friday.
