Women’s Tennis Falls in Qualifying of National Clay Courts – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State women’s tennis players Monica Rincon (Jr., Lapeer, Mich./West) and Sadhaf Pervez (So., Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) each fell in qualifying for the T. Rowe Price National Intercollegiate Clay Court Championships. The tournament, which is the opening leg of the collegiate grand slam, is being held at the Suburban Club of Baltimore County in Pikesville, Md.
Pervez posted a first-round win over Lourdes Riusech of American by default to advance to the second round. She was then defeated by Maren Haus of Wake Forest, 8-2. Rincon was defeated in the first round by Kentucky’s No. 83-ranked Brooke Skeen, 8-4.
No. 33 Kristy Dascoli (Sr., Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Academy) will compete in the singles main draw, while the tandem of Dascoli and Rincon, the No. 8-ranked duo, will participate in the doubles main draw. The main draw will be held Thursday through Sunday, Sept. 21-24.
