Ian Connor Places Second at NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Six Buckeyes have competed at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Durham, N.C. Today is the fourth and final day of competition. Four Buckeyes have finished their competition and two will compete in today’s finals.
Ian Connor (Jr., Lexington, Ohio/Northmor Local) placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase final Friday with the time of 8:41.16, his fastest of the season. Placing first was Tim Broe from Alabama with the time of 8:39.03. Wednesday Connor qualified for the final earning the second fastest time of 8:45.24.
Dominque Calloway (Sr., Aurora, Colo./ Denver South) finished her career as a Buckeye as she finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles final Friday with a time of 58.99. Calloway qualified for the finals Wednesday earning the fastest time of the semifinals, 56.32, which was also her fastest time of the season. She also ran in the 100-meter hurdles semifinals Friday, but failed to qualify for today’s finals. She placed eighth with a time of 13.15. Thursday, Calloway earned a time of 13.06 in the preliminaries.
Ayanna Reece (Sr., Bronx, N.Y./George Washington) also ran her final race for the Buckeyes in the 400 hurdles semifinal. She earned her fastest time of the season, 58.21, but she didn’t qualify for the finals.
George Hoover (Fr., Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) competed in the javelin throw Friday placing tenth in his flight with a throw of 60.48m.
Today Donica Merriman (Jr., Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison) will compete in the 100 hurldles. Only the Top 4 from the semifinals qualified for the finals and Merriman earned the fastest times in both the preliminary (12.84) and the semifinals (12.83).
Merriman also won her heat in the 200-meter dash in Wednesday’s preliminary with the time of 23.43. However, she did not qualify for the finals as she earned a time of 23.30 in today’s semifinals (third-place in heat).
Andrew Pierce (Jr., Yellow Springs, Ohio/Yellow Springs) will also be competing in today’s 400-meter dash finals. He qualified in the semifinals with the time of 45.34.
