Dascoli Named Big Ten Women’s Tennis Player of the Year – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – %^$Ohio State’s Kristy Dascoli (Jr., Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Academy) became the first OSU Big Ten Women’s Tennis Player of the Year after leading the Buckeyes to the first regular-season conference title in program history. Dascoli joins teammate Monica Rincon (So., Lapeer, Mich./Lapeer West) on the all-Big Ten team.%^$
%^$Dascoli earned all-conference honors for the third-consecutive season. She went undefeated in conference play this season (9-0) and is 29-8 overall this season. She ranks third on the all-time singles wins list with a mark of 72-32. She is on a 13-match winning streak at No. 1 singles and is ranked No. 40 in the country. Earlier this spring she received the highest-ranking in program history, when she was rated No. 32 by the ITA.%^$
%^$Rincon leads the squad with a mark of 30-9 overall and is 19-4 this spring. Her win total this season ranks first all-time in single-season victories. She received her first national ranking earlier this season, reaching a high of No. 77, and is currently ranked No. 100 (tied).%^$
%^$Dascoli and Rincon form a strong doubles tandem ranked No. 23 by the ITA. The duo is 18-5 this season and has won its last 10 matches.%^$
%^$The No. 26 Buckeyes await selection to the NCAA Team Championships. The 64-team field will be announced at 3:30 p.m. today, as will individuals selected to the singles and doubles tournaments.%^$
