Doubles Team Records Upset to Advance at NCAA Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis doubles tandem of Kristy Dascoli (Jr., Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Academy) and Monica Rincon (So., Lapeer, Mich./Lapeer West) advanced to the second round of the NCAA Doubles Championship in Malibu, Calif. yesterday, after posting a win over No. 8-ranked Lucie Dvorakova and Daria Zoldakova of Texas Christian, a five-eight seed in the tournament. Dascoli and Rincon, ranked No. 23, will face Stanford’s No. 13-ranked tandem of Laura Granville and Keiko Tokuda today at 5 p.m. (EST) in Malibu, Calif.
In singles, No. 40 Dascoli, competing in her third-consecutive singles tournament, fell to Stanford’s No. 38-ranked Teryn Ashley, 6-4, 6-2. Dascoli, the 2000 Big Ten Player of the Year, ended her singles season with a mark of 29-11.
