Softball Shuts Out Robert Morris, 7-0 – Ohio State Buckeyes

The Ohio State softball team shut out Robert Morris, 7-0, today to advance to the consolation finals of the Florida International Golden Panther Invitational in Miami, Fla. Sarah West blasted two home runs against the Colonels to give the Buckeyes a 6-7 record and advance to the finals against the Bowling Green Falcons.
Ohio State led off with Anna Smith notching a triple into right field. Two batters later, Stacy Roth hit a grounder into left field for a Buckeye 2-0 lead.
In the second, West blasted a one-run homer over the centerfield wall. She followed it again with another home run in the third to send Renae Weigel and Kristine Himes home.
The Buckeyes clinched the win when Smith led off with a single into center field. She would advance to second on a Holly English single. Smith stole third, but headed home on a Robert Morris error. The Buckeyes defeated the Colonels, 7-0.
Inside the circle, Katie Chain pitched four innings and struck out a career-high six batters for the win. She is now 3-1 in tournament action.
The Buckeyes will now take on the Bowling Green Falcons in the consolation finals at 1 p.m. today.
