Women’s Lacrosse Tops Notre Dame, 10-9 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Lauren Cochran (So., Coatesville, Pa.) scored with just over a minute remaining to give Ohio State a 10-9 victory over Notre Dame, Thursday at the Jesse Owens Stadium. Ohio State moved its record to 4-2 on the season, while Notre Dame falls to 3-2.
The score was tied, 4-4, at halftime. After falling behind, 9-7, the Buckeyes rallied with three unanswered goals to come back and defeat the Irish.
Cochran and Megan Mirick (So., Burke, Va.) each scored three goals in the contest. Shannon Wilson (Fr., Crystal Beach, Ont.) scored a goal and added three assists for Ohio State, while three other Buckeyes tallied in the game as well.
Buckeye goalie Megan Barnett (So., Charlottesville, Va.) played all 60 minutes and recorded nine saves. Notre Dame keeper Tara Durkin kept the game close, as she had 19 saves in 60 minutes of play.
Lael O’Shaughnessy and Natalie Loftus each scored two goals for the Irish.
The Buckeyes will play their next two games on the road, as the squad travels to Regis Saturday and plays at Denver the following day.
