Ohio State Softball Upsets DePaul, 2-1 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team (14-9) nipped DePaul (7-12), 2-1, today in Fullerton, Calif. Kristi Martin posted her fifth win of the season, after pitching 4.2 innings, striking out five and only giving up four hits.
The Buckeyes opened the first inning with Holly English and Jennifer Link singling to third. Stacy Roth then nailed a one-run double and Weigel followed with a sacrifice bunt to score Link. Ohio State led 2-0.
In the bottom of the fourth with one out, the Blue Demons came back within one when Shavaughne Desecki belted a solo home run to rightfield on a 2-2 count.
Ohio State maintained its 2-1 lead off the pitching of Katie Chain. Chain, who came into the game in the fourth inning, gave up no hits for her first save of the season.
Ohio State will now take on No. 19 Long Beach State tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. (PST) and No. 9 Cal-State Fullerton, Thursday at 5 p.m. (PST).
