Women’s Tennis Falls to No. 21 Kentucky, 5-4 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 31 Ohio State women’s tennis team lost a close match to No. 21 Kentucky, 5-4, Friday in Lexington, Ky. The Buckeyes, in the midst of a seven-match road trip, fell to 7-3 overall, while the Wildcats improved to 6-5 this spring.
The Buckeyes claimed two of the six singles matches. No. 36 (tied) Kristy Dascoli (Jr., Bradenton, Fla.) topped Carolina Mayorga at No. 1 and Sadhaf Pervez (Fr., Warren, N.J.) won at No. 4 over Leigh Bradwell. Monica Rincon (So., Lapeer, Mich.) suffered her first loss of the spring, as she fell in three sets to No. 55 Brooke Skeen. Michelle Matko (So., Aurora, Ill.) lost a close match at No. 3 to Sarah Witten, 7-6, 7-5.
Ohio State won two doubles matches as well. Dascoli and Rincon defeated the No. 27-ranked doubles duo of Skeen and Mayorga, 8-5, while Matko and Claudia Castro (So., Dublin, Ohio) won over the No. 25 tandem of Skeen and Bradwell.
The Buckeyes face their third-consecutive Top 25 team as they to go up against No. 19 Tennessee tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Knoxville, Tenn.
